Release week update
Added 2022-07-21 16:50:27 +0000 UTCWhat a week! I announced PathCompanion on Friday and already have over 480 total accounts created. With that, I've gotten the opportunity to see how people use the app, and I've learned a few important things:
- Racial favored class bonuses seem to be way more used than I thought
- People are having a hard time navigating to the Maintenance view to choose their class (I believe a new character creation wizard may be next on my TODO list)
- Deities are more important than I thought
- Typos suck.
- A lot of people use the app on a phone and sometimes it doesn't load very well (it's a pretty big package size)
- When I update the app, sometimes active users receive an error if they're in the process of downloading the package.
- A lot of people have some really interesting ideas!
Some features implemented:
- Mauler Familiar archetype
- Sage Familiar archetype
- Exemplar Brawler archetype
- Shields are now a separate category in the weapon chooser. In the shields category, if you are proficient in the shield for defense purposes, the shield is not greyed out. It is still grayed out if you aren't proficient in it as a weapon in the martial/simple weapon list, however.
- Half-Elf Favored class bonus for Investigator (I saw someone tried to use it and figured it would be easy to implement)
- A few more General feats as I make my way through them all as a first-pass.
- Started work on deity architecture
Through a bug tracking tool, I've also fixed a ton of bugs, including:
- When you change your class and you have a racial favored class bonus for the original class, the favored class bonus should be cleared rather than attempted to be applied to the new level, since that race may not have a favored class bonus for the new class
- If you change your race and you have any racial favored class bonuses, we need to iterate through every level and undo them.
- Bracers of armor were broken and are now fixed.
- Inspiration now applies a tag correctly to each skill it affects
- The ability to use skills untrained no longer causes an "undefined undefined" tooltip to pop up on the skill.
- The Black Blade Magus can now choose more than just Sword cane as a black blade (weird bug in how I passed in the weapon limitations to the weapons dialog)
- If you click "Delete this trait slot" when adding a new trait, it doesn't error out anymore (note: the button should probably just be "Cancel" in this case)
- Removed access to third-party classes I was using in my homebrew campaigns. I don't think I can use these without contacting the publishers of said third-party content.
- Fixed eidolon form size choice always being stuck at Small after you change it the first time
- Fixed "Bleed" eidolon evolution so you can choose the weapon it applies to.
- Fixed Drow Noble race (nothing worked because it mostly applied features from the Drow race and didn't index them correctly)
- Fixed an issue choosing a familiar that didn't get created correctly the first time because of an unimplemented creature type or something like that
