Okay so I’ll continue step 4 on another image that has a better example of lighting and shadow. Technical and creative logic:

So, what this portions will explain is, how to utilize the technical side and the creative side of your Brain when drawing. You’ll need to remember to breakdown, simplify and identify when drawing.

There are two different ways to breakdown, simplify and identify— technical and creative. but what does that mean?

Technical

The best example is a stick man. A stick man is a simplified depiction/guide of a human that lacks detail yet, your brain will help fill in the gaps. So when drawing technical, your’e applying logic where it’s necessary. So studying even basic shapes (in 2D and 3D) by breaking down/simplifying them using symmetry, you’ll find identifying these shapes later on can be easier.

Creative

So using the stick man as an example again— the brain can fill in the details that the stick man lacks. So while using your ref. the basic goal is to identify the shapes in smaller sections. So first break the body downin sections then, break those parts down again.
