Okay— there was a bit of a delay but, I wont hold any more time.

I’m extremely thankful to host a safe place for artist to be Seen and heard. This is our second interview I’ve done so far ( Click HERE - to view our very first interview ). I’m you’re host Caleb and I’m here with the one and only,— Dose of Destiney, ( Destiney).
”Its so nice to have you here Destiney— If you can a, small introduction about yourself should get the interview started.”
I My name is Destiney, I am a 22 black digital artist based in New York. I create girly digital art! I love embracing my femininity throughout my art by creating characters based on fashion, beauty and of course using pink (my fav color!)
examples of art :

Okay getting to the good part lets get everything started:

What is your name, social tags ( All of the social sites you would like to mention), your age and where you’re from?

My name is Destiney, I’m 22 years old, and I’m from Long Island, New York!
In 5 words or less describe yourself?
Some words I would use to describe myself are creative, passionate, confident, hard working, and sweet!
Why do you make art?
I make art because it allows me to express myself! I am very into fashion, makeup and basically anything girly. When I combine all of my interests and make my own original characters, I feel super happy!! Each piece connects to one another because I contain consistency. All of my artworks have the same style but with new and different elements each time. This also creates recognition of my work.

What is the hardest part about what you do?
I would say the hardest challenge I constantly come across is definitely procrastination and art block. Most days I DO want to draw and create but there is always that feeling of resistance that is so hard for me to overcome. I do think it’s important not to push your creativity because then you will experience burn out, which isn’t a good feeling either. Taking breaks is very important and scrolling through pinterest for inspiration is a must!
What has been the most rewarding thing that comes with being an artist?
The most rewarding thing for me is that I get to share my art on social media and at art markets for other people to experience! I love seeing people’s reaction when they see my art for the first time. They get so excited and happy! That’s exactly why I draw, because it makes me happy!
How do you describe your art?
My art can be described as very femime and girly. I use a lot of pink throughout my work because not only is it my favorite color but I create characters to embrace my feminie side. I am very inspired by trendy fashion and beauty trends.
What is your biggest Pet peeve ( being an artist and in general)?

My biggest pet peeve as an artist is that whenever someone finds out I’m artistic they automatically assume I can create everything! I’ve had people ask me to design tattoos, watercolor paintings, jewelry, jackets and so on. I think it’s impolite when people ask me these questions because I have a very clear niche and style. I’ve always gotten responses like “but you're an artist! Why can’t you do it?” It’s just annoying to have that expectation of someone just because they are an artist.
What’s your preferred method of advertising your work?
My preferred method of advertising is both Instagram and Tik Tok. I promote my art, my products and behind the scenes of me drawing. I do find it very hard with this confusing algorithm on both apps lol but I’m so proud of the platform I have created! I also got hacked out of my instagram for 3 weeks. So when I got it back it really made me appreciate the audience I gained.
If you can give any advice ( to your younger self, or beginners), what would that piece of advice be?
Advice I would give my younger self and other beginners would be to do what you love and don’t care about what other people think! I have gone a very long time worrying about what other people thought of me and even my art! It made me so insecure. I learned that over time and which is why I am very confident. I do what I love and don’t let other opinions stop me from doing that!

Do you feel as if your art helps the communities around you ( that being your online presence in dedicated communities you enjoy, your local communities within your area, or *rather it being your art finds its place with whomever and whatever communities that needs that recognition and relate to your art)? { * Example- You draw what ever speaks to you and those that like you art like it.}
I think my art does help the community around me! I’ve been told at multiple art markets I’ve done that they appreciate that my art embraces femininity. It is very trendy to not like pink and view it as stereotyping women. I really don’t see that as a problem. If you like pink it’s okay! It shouldn’t feel like a crime for liking the color pink or girly things.
What are (3) goals that you want to see, or complete within your art career?
3 goals I would love to accomplish are
Who is your favorite artist?
My current favorite artist is Sonia Stegemann! I am very inspired by her and her work! I love how each month she has a new theme and creates her art around the theme of the month. The theme is always on point, she puts lots of thought and detail into the theme, the characters, and her products. Which is why I admire her work so much!
Recommendations time ( Top (3) ) >
My favorite artists of all time are Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat and Lil Nas X. (Nicki has been my main inspiration since day one, I have learned a lot from her and is one of the reasons I’m so passionate about what I do!)
I only have one podcast I listen to which is Time: Out with Troyce. I really connect with how he thinks!
My favorite youtube channels are Christina Randall, Destin Troyce and TheQuickSlice
My favorite tv shows are It’s always sunny in Philadelphia, Dexter, and Keeping up with the Kardashians
My favorite movie of all time is Toy Story 🥺

14. How is your mental health?
My mental health is good! The beginning of this year I went through a lot and everything happened so quickly. It was hard to keep myself uplifted and positive. It was very hard for me to do anything and I didn’t draw for months. I had friends and family to help me so I’m very thankful for that! I have found a place where I’m at peace and very happy!

15. Lastly, we have to know what you are working with( your preferred medium, tablet and etc) and at least (1) of your favorite tools? I feel this is the most important question, because everyone does things differently, or has different tools that they enjoy using. Plus its the most asked question an artist gets asked besides,” Can you draw me ?”

I work on my iPad Air 4th Generation using the program Procreate!I feel like I can have more versatility with creating digital art than traditional. I say this because I have access to multiple colors, brushes, and canvas’ with just my iPad. I don’t think I will be able to create my best work with traditional art.

Well its been a true blessing chatting with you — ill leave some of my all time favs, from you below and I can’t wait till next time.
