MKIII ready for full testing
Added 2019-01-13 14:08:17 +0000 UTCThe new MKIII body is now in the Patreon share for full testing along with legs and drive units. All very early days but they’ve been printed a dozen times and all looks good. I’m working hard to get the complete MKIII finished!
Happy printing,
Mike,

Hi Bob, no, the new designs are available to my Patreon subscribers but I share all the designs later once tested. I suspect once once tested and done the instructions it’ll be around 4 -5 weeks.

2019-01-18 16:51:53 +0000 UTCHi, keep with the V2 body, the MKIII is specifically designed for 500mm bed printers to do full rings and you can’t swap the body rings as it’s a new design, the greebles also are different fixings etc. I’ve taken the opportunity to improve quite a bit however the v2 is tried and tested. The legs, drive and dome are all interchangeable, so v2 dome will work with MKIII, MKIII legs with v2 body etc, so you can use MKIII legs and drive if you wish on the v2 body.

2019-01-18 06:52:06 +0000 UTCMichael - first want to say thank you this is truly a wonderful thing you have done for this community. I have a couple of questions regarding MKIII. I have been currently printing the MKII R2D2 dome (completed) and now I'm printing the MKII body. For the MKII body, I have printed the base, layer 1, and layer 2. I have not started layer 3 yet. Is it possible to mix MKIII layer 3 with MKII layers? Would it be wiser to just complete layer 3 with the MKII body? Are the MKIII legs, drive train compatible with a MKII body?

2019-01-18 05:21:07 +0000 UTCHi Larry, I used PLA+ for the body modules using Simplify3d slicer. It was printed in glass with Hairspray. Following that I’ve put a printbed surface, similar to Pei / buildtak. I have also used helper discs to improve adherence.

2019-01-16 12:38:31 +0000 UTCMichael I know its a lot to ask but could you post somewhere the settings you are using to print out the mkIII body and possibly describe your setup? So far I have gone thru an entire roll of failed body prints. I have a sheet of pei on order and if that doesnt work Ill have to go back to the v2 body.
2019-01-16 11:49:42 +0000 UTCFollowing this, im having the same problem with S5 and PETG.
2019-01-15 15:30:27 +0000 UTCIm using hatchbox petg, brand new from sealed bag, printing at 240 with 75 bed. The room is about 70. I'm at a total loss for why its warping after so much time. I have a brim and skirt. Ill have to re-arrange things to put a box around it.. its a big printer.
2019-01-14 16:17:22 +0000 UTCI think either your PETG is not good quality, or your settings are incorrect, or it has soaked up some moisture. What temperature are you printing at? How cold is it in your printing roo,? You can try enclosing the S5, a big cardboard box works really well, no need for an expensive enclosure.
