Quick Mid-December HelixFTW Report

Howdy y'all!

We're still trucking away at getting the next update ready to go. Just wanted to take a moment to let everyone know, I want to keep at the whole "two posts a month at least" kind of thing. We're hoping to have the next update out before next year (no guarantees, of course), and we'll figure out what our plans are for the next release after that at some point as well.

---

I also want to give you all a huge shoutout for all your support; I never, EVER thought this patreon would be this successful and quite frankly it's a little terrifying; I don't really know what to do with all of this. I'm going to sure as hell try not to let you all down! Thank you all so much!!

---

I also suppose I'll take a moment to talk about a difficulty I've been having lately when it comes to these reports, and generally just sharing information on the game in general. You see, there are a variety of interesting things I could post here- images, videos, etc. I really do want to post and share them, but whereas I was mega loose with that kind of thing in the past (if you were around for the Flash days, you know I loved posting basically everything before it was finished when I was working on things) nowadays I feel there's a lot more importance to that moment and experience where you get to find something out first-hand.

I feel like there is something lost in spoiling the experience without it being in its full context- it's something videos can almost kind of get, but when it comes to a game with an environment to explore and characters to meet, I really want there to be that kind of first-impression feeling. I want it to feel like the character is reacting to you, surprising you. You, the player, are the important part of this equation.

It becomes difficult to balance, of course- how do you lead a player towards something, especially with how sprawling and occasionally cryptic our own game can get, without also spoiling the surprise? So we've tried adding in hints and even a full spoiler section in the Readme included with every release, but a lot of people don't seem to read the Readme. There's always asking friends, which I think is a good way to do it, but we're also hoping the new achievement system we're implementing will help point people in the right directions.

So if you've ever wondered why I don't post a whole lot when it comes to the game much anymore, it's simply because I want that first impression of new, cool things to be in the game, in its full context. I want You, the Player, to find those things, form your own opinions, and the like.

Like there's some stuff coming to Meilu that's TOTALLY new, as every character tends to have; and god, as much as I want to tease it, I just don't think it's right to do.

---

Anyway, I think that's about it for now, those are my thoughts. Thank you again for everyone who's supported Serk and I, this has been a very good year. And while my own work ethic has been something of a roller coaster, I've had a ton of fun making this game and learned a crazy amount about 3D work.

That's why I was waiting for the new release actually. To get the full experience and see how it feels ><

Seeing your work evolve and improve over the years has been nothing short of amazing. Your switch from 2D workflow to 3D makes sense considering Flash's planned obsolescence, but the speed at which you adapted to Blender, and then have been able to (consistently!) create new critters to encounter is what finally got me to support your project. What you and Serk have done is outstanding and I wish you both the best in 2026 and beyond, whatever your plans are. Everyone that's been added to HelixFTR has been packed with features and personality that I'm glad you were able to realize. I'm not one to usually comment on these things, but if these pixels on a screen help you stay motivated to continue this excellent project, even a little bit, well... Keep being awesome :)

Honestly, I don't like Gridiron, and Wolfo at all. I'm more into dragons, snakes, and dinosaurs, so I hope for some kind of big snake or dragon. But of course I support any kind of work, and it's great that someone is dedicating themselves to it like this, because it's really great.

are you having in your plans characters like regena or unfinished citra from helixftr? i'd love to see them in helixftw

Marek Markowski

I can't wait! I hope for next character that will be a spider but I not put my hopes that high.

Michal Vrbka

I can understand the conflict. As a huge fan of the project I both want to see the cool new things I'm looking forward to, but also want to see them firsthand when they come out. In any case I am very excited

Alexander Coryell

Im gonna bet that were gonna have scenes where Meilu swims in the ocean and she relaxes as she floats with a full belly ๐Ÿ˜Š

Barboola Borgola

I love your take on teasing new content. It is absolutely way more fun going in blind and seeing the interactions you can have firsthand.

I'd say just have a spoiler list in the readme of each of the characters scenes. And whenever you post the new download links, make sure it says above/below the link to check out the readme for scene lists. That way, people who want to find the scenes naturally will find them in game, and those who want to know what's new know where to check.
