February Report

Alright so, I haven't really ever made any posts on here, instead using my Discord for most of my news. I noticed on one of the exit surveys that folks weren't happy about how I've communicated progress- so I'm going to try something new, and post about what's going on at the start of every month.


LAST MONTH: JANUARY

January was kind of my kickstart into like... trying to do this on a professional level. I took my first commission, and it kind of ate into all of my animating-focus budget, if that makes sense. I'm going to try my best to figure out how to make sure to focus on my other projects from time to time.

That being said, I'm very happy with how Sheila came out. For my first real commission of this caliber, I feel like I did a pretty good job- I'd always worried that when push would come to shove I wouldn't be able to deliver as I'd like to. However, for the amount of effort I put in, I'm not sure if I charged enough. I'll have to think on that when I get around to it again later this month.


THIS MONTH: FEBRUARY

So you might notice that Sheila isn't out on FA yet- I need to do a little more work on her for Fid, and then I'm going to release her once she's up to where we want her to be. That should be in the next couple of days, or just today if I can get my lazy butt to get to work.


I'm also getting tired of working with barb- the character, not the engine. There are a lot of ideas I have that just won't work with barb on account of her being a total stick figure. As such, I'm going to try to actually make the next iteration, a more proper kinda Panftr 2 sort of deal. And I know what you're thinking, "But Al you tried that twice and you gave up on both because it was too much work." And you'd be right, of course- while I'm proud of my accomplishments with I8U and I8U2, both introduced issues I hadn't thought of when I was designing them. I8U focused too heavily on trying to make a vore game an actual game (which is always a mistake), and I8U2 made me realize that trying to make it TOO consensual and cuddly limits interactions and reasonable character choices too much.


As such, my next project is going to be much less character-focused, and will probably feel more like the classic barbftr or panftr- just with a character that can actually interact in some manner with enemies.

And yes, it'll probably be Helix again, but redrawn because I need to simplify a couple things about him. I plan to use the lineless art style again, because it also tends to make my life a lot easier.


As for my current barbftr projects, such as Hiera, Shol, and Anthro Komodo; I want to keep working on Hiera and Shol, and I might just try to add a few things to AK to get them to a "finished' point. I don't really know what to do with them, to be honest- but I feel as though I should try go polish up what I've got so I can get more things released.


WHAT'S COMING UP:

-Sheila for Barbftr Full Release (Soon)

-Engine for HelixFtr (Working title, by end of month)

-Another Commissioned Character maybe (By end of month)

-Misc additions for Existing Barbftr Characters (Hiera, Shol, Anthro Komodo)



Yeesh this ended up being way wordier than I anticipated. But, I hope that the communication is appreciated. You can get a hold of me here, if you like- although pinging me in the discord server is definitely the better idea.
