Fuzzles #14 - Snip Snip

Loki has a question for Earl Grey.

Sometimes actions can speak louder than words.

(This may or may not be a controversial opinion, but I'm personally against the practice of cropping and docking for purely aesthetic reasons.)

I get that, I just wasn't sure if you considered the sheep docking to be aesthetic or not. I feel the same way, any alteration of an animal that's unnecessary I'm against. Declawing and debarking is just plain cruel. Not sure how I feel about ear tipping feral cats, but I suppose the purpose of that is to let people know they've been altered and they don't need to be re-captured for that purpose. My home state in New York has banned declawing, I'm hoping Virginia follows suit. I'd never declaw my fur babies.

For sure. I'm against declawing as well. Basically anything that alters an animal's appearance permanently just for "looks" I'm totally against, which is what I specifically said in the description. Docking sheep tails might fall into more of the "for health/medical reasons" category, which is fine. Declawing isn't for looks per say, but it is an unnecessary, permanent, physical alteration that only benefits the human. De-barking is similar this way (though thankfully I don't think it's done anymore).

Amen to that.

Yeah, poor buddy. :(

Oh no, I agree with you. I feel the exact same way about declawing since it's basically like removing the entire top part of your fingers. However, I will say that in sheep it's different and necessary. Their tails can get awful dirty and infected if they aren't docked. But for dogs and cats, completely unnecessary because it's a "cosmetic" thing.

Poor baby. I hate that idea too. No animal deserves to have an extended part of their spine let alone any part of them cropped or docked.
