OF ALL TIME.
A long, slow build, powerful story, emotional and dark and meaningful. The romance is a sub plot, but a very, VERY good one, so good it rides alongside the main plot. It is the gold standard I aim for when I try and write my darker, more powerful stories.
If you haven't read it, I strongly suggest reading the manga (the animes are hit or miss). Be aware it has a lot of violence and sexual violence, but it is so good, I've read it beginning to current 6 times. It has permanently shaped how I write.
