Future: Focus on sagas
Added 2018-03-16 20:53:14 +0000 UTCGood news for most, bad news for some, I suppose. I could already see it coming, so I decided to take initiative. An Inhuman Love is dead. Dead, or at least I won't be writing them any time soon.
Looking around, reading around, I see all the successful authors in this sort of approach really focus on a saga, and I can agree with that. Making people who want to read Medusa or My Little Ventrue have to pay for a story they're not interested in, when I decide to write a chapter of AIL, is mean and bad business.
BUT, the good news is that means sagas (Medusa for now, My Little Ventrue in the future) will get more chapters, faster.
I'm also aware that most readers would prefer a saga to last a while. It's no fun to get invested in a saga, only to have it end. So while Medusa doesn't have the staying power to be a long saga, MLV can be be expanded for on good while.
A lot of my efforts are going into my Gothic vampire horror series though. Working title: Nighthunters. This is the series that I can carry for 10-20 books. A setting I've crafted from the ground up. Spreadsheets. SO MANY SPREADSHEETS. Spreadsheets of lore, areas, a bestiary. Spreadsheets of religions and politics. Spreadsheets of the history, spreadsheets of the hidden things that hide in the dark. Spreadsheets of the main city, where most of the story will take place (kind of like Dolareido :P).

2018-03-18 15:22:34 +0000 UTCI'm gonna get through this Medusa story (cause I love Medusa and she deserves a story), and then I'm going to focus on expanding MLV. I figured I could write 2 more books in MLV, but the Chronicles of Darkness universe is large, and my setting is ripe for expanding. I could write another 6 or 7 MLV books, if that's what the readers want.

There are some problems with it though, namely that it doesn't scale (what happens if this ever hits a really high number?), and it'd only be incentive to be in that tier until you're in the story, then it's gone. Readers may not care about those issues though, and a namedrop in the story may be all they want? I'll keep thinking about it.
