This chapter sets the stage. Unfortunately, due to how much stuff is going on, I couldn't end the chapter with some proper tension. Let me know if that's an issue, that sometimes some chapters don't have any proper tension. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to cure the problem with this serial format, though. Ideally, I'd spend 30k-50k words building up some proper framework for tense events that last 30k-50k, and that repeats thrice a novel, give or take depending on how I've structured the story. But serial format makes that lead to weird chapters, where in some nothing happens, and then in some EVERYTHING happens. π
