I bought myself a couple self-editing guide books lately. I did 8 years ago, and read them thoroughly at the time, but it's been so long I figure it's time for an update and see if I can catch and undo bad habits. Hopefully you'll notice my writing coming across as a little leaner, meaner, and cleaner.

Demons can eat resonance and turn it into essence. Their bodies store both resonance and essence. Humans store both resonance and essence as well. Humans can't eat resonance, or turn their own resonance into essence, but they can absorb other people's/demons' essence directly. Buuuut no one knows exactly what Mia and David absorb when they eat hearts.
