In this story the thing keeping them apart would mostly be their class. Mansa is basically a judge who is expected to carry out justice and make decisions in favor of what is morally “good”. Song is a devil, so even though they aren’t evil creatures the public has preconceived notions. Imagine finding out the judge overseeing your case was married to a devil...
