2023-03-21 04:01:08 +0000 UTCRe-reading this after the updated version and it really is amazing how differently they communicate with each other in your newer works. Song is much more snarky in this and Mansa is much more brusque. I prefer them soft and gone for each other lol.

The promotion was sudden, after all, when it was probably a "future" problem he was ignoring or trying to plan around. He's unexpectedly about to lose Song and be forced into marriage, or else be forced to compromise his job somehow. But he is past the initial panic and should be nicer to Song than "unpleasant." It's already unpleasant!
