The entire thing will be over Song saying something mean about him to other people, not Song's actual feelings about him. It was a shitty thing to say, but if I were in Mansa's place I wouldn't be particularly mad about it. I'm an Out lesbian and I know what it's like to be in the closet - I understand what people who are closeted need to do to protect themselves, and as someone who is Out I don't give a shit what toxic people think of me. I'd be more concerned if my partner continued to throw shade behind my back and meant it.

Then I come back at the end of the day to see the world-building you do in the comments. We should start a google doc or something where we just copy and paste the comments/answers. After they all-but-called Song a slut. Come on, now.

2021-07-20 12:55:59 +0000 UTCThey spent a lot of time together after the kiss mostly because Song was afraid to go home. Mansa let him stay and they talked and bonded (and kissed) a lot in that time. Their first time wasn’t until a bit later - Song has nightmares (much to his embarrassment) and Mansa climbed in to comfort him. They talked and things kind of snowballed! He was onboard fully, he just thought that Song should know before things went further!

Mansa wanted to work in the capital more than anything, and if he served he knew that he would be allowed to attend school for free there afterwards. Thomas had the same plan which is how they became friends, his father is quite wealthy and wanted to pay for it for him but Thomas has a hard time accepting help. He only saw a bit of action (and was shot once) he liked the general rigor of it but it was definitely just a stepping stone for him.
