Students get red jackets, practicing judges wear blue, and high council has gold. So the woman we saw on page one is high council - she is also the only high council member to vote in favor of infernal human marriage. (I mean she’s been with her devil courtesan for 40 years so she obviously should be voting for it!)

It offers so many different implications when a person who is applying the law in action can also propose updates and changes based on what problems they see. Are there ‘plain’ politicians like mayors who oversee an area’s everyday operations or does Mansa being in charge of a city’s court make him like a district representative?

2021-08-19 11:53:04 +0000 UTCSchooling would be similar to studying to be a judge in America, well a judge crossed with a politician since the judges also make the laws here. The high council is mostly in charge of the younger practicing judges (moving them around, promoting them based on their work, etc) and their votes on political issues are mostly the end all be all - meaning this law passing was a major upset. There are ten of these people and when one retires they will hire another from the higher ranking “Blue jacket” judges. Mansa has been assigned a specific court in the city that he is in charge of (and he got a townhouse with the position, like Song said in For Profit) and he works with Thomas there. They handle trials as well as drafting bills and other less exciting day to day work.

And hexes (Song used to run hexed objects for his Ex) are like giving a luck bonus to an object. This is still illegal because A. Humans are jealous and greedy, and B. Hexes are very addictive to humans.

He could definitely smack somebody with it though! Hexing an object basically makes the object behave exactly as the user intends. If they’ve got hexed makeup, they look the way they’ve always dreamed - pretty harmless until you start hexing weapons 👀

Mansa loves him so much, but he is also very hardworking and tends to hyper-fixate, which often leads to Song alone in their house feeling a liiiittle neglected. But remember that we’re still early in their story! Song throws himself headfirst into relationships and has a tendency to forget himself. He loves Mansa! But he also needs to learn who is he outside of them.
