2015-12-15 13:23:58 +0000 UTCThanks for the great extra! If anyone here is interested in the Dyatlov Pass mystery, check out the book Dead Mountain by Donnie Eichar. The author has a pretty interesting meteorological theory that answers a lot of the questions. Just another theory of course, but a compelling one. The thing I really like about the book though is how deep he goes into the lives of the students. It's an interesting glimpse of what it was like to be a young person in Russia at that time.

2015-11-19 00:10:02 +0000 UTCI thought I read somewhere that hypothermia can cause psychosis. The unfortunate souls rip off their clothes, shoes, etc and wander in delirium until death takes them. However, I don't think it explains the head injuries. Fascinating story, thanks!

I can not imagine what motivated these experienced hikers to live their shelter, in such a panic to escape, without proper foot wear, food, or clothing. From what I have researched, these individuals were highly educated and professionals in hiking. I believe their government have some idea on what happened but refuse to publicize it. It must be hard on their families to not have any closure, on the deaths of their loved ones. :(
