Humans were intimidated by that so delegitimized it by insulting and demeaning devils with big horns and eventually that turned into infernals making fun as well, so usually infernals like Song are way too demoralized to get in touch with their magic to start with.

They are supportive of him and Mansa but his dad in particular is really awkward and doesn’t want to offend anybody, so to spare Mansa he usually visits alone or just doesn’t visit at all. Mansa’s family is much farther away! You’d have to travel by boat and it would likely take at least a month. Song has never met them and Mansa’s not eager to introduce them. Maybe his grandmothers, but not his parents and certainly not his siblings.

Etty had run away from the celestials with her father already and they were living in devils market, but Etty still sang for parties and such as additional income. Song had seen other infernals preforming with celestial scholars and asked to work with her when he saw her singing in the market. It kind of started out like a middle school band, but they got better and established a routine. When they were at a show a few years later Song met Elon and kind of fell off the face of the earth for about two years. Etty did warn him about scholars and he didn’t listen so it’s a bit of a sore spot for them.
