LORE EXTRA HIATUS
Added 2018-08-20 18:32:10 +0000 UTCHey folks,
This isn't awesome news to share, but after all these years of support and encouragement, I owe you a good explanation for the headline of this post.
Starting this week, I need to put the Lore Extra reward on pause. Between now and the beginning of December (if everything goes well), I won't be able to research and write new Lore Extras. Now...let me unpack that a big for you.
First, understand that Lore Extras are actually more labor-intensive than full Lore episodes, pound for pound. Those short little 5-minute stories take a good 2-3 hours of research and planning, and then another 2 hours or more of writing. Throw in the recording and audio production, and every single 5-minute Extra represents about 6 hours of my word day.
But starting today, my schedule has become so packed with "other" projects that I simply can't find that six-hour window every other week. Here are my current writing responsibilities:
- Regular, consistent Lore writing (full episodes)
- Cabinet of Curiosities writing and editing
- Secret Podcast #3, scheduled for a Fall release as part of my partnership with HowStuffWorks. It's a *massive* undertaking, too—I've never created anything like it, in scope and size. And while it's just a limited-run series, it's a beast. If I'm not writing Lore, this is what is sucking up all my time. All that said, I guarantee you are going to LOVE this new show we're cooking up.
- I have a handful of other new podcasts in various stages of development, but just like with Cabinet and Podcast #3, I'm working with a large team to make them a reality. Think of me as sort of the Executive Producer over a whole bunch of shows.
- Lastly, the second season of the Lore tv show on Amazon AND the third World of Lore book both arrive in October, and that means lots of promotional travel and stuff like that.
So all of that is to say...I'm working hard to make great stuff for you folks, but to do it, I need to pause those tiny Lore Extras because they take more-than-tiny time from my schedule.
When the crazy rush is over in early December, I plan to un-pause the Extras and dig back in. Until then, though, I thank you for your patience and generous support. You folks are hands-down the best fans out there, and I love you for it.
Thanks so much!

2018-10-08 16:46:53 +0000 UTCThank you for being upfront and honest about the situation. I’m bummed that the extras won’t be available, but the reasoning is completely understandable.

2018-09-28 13:32:00 +0000 UTCA new show? How exciting! I'm a fairly new listener, but Lore has become my little bit of breathing-room on my commute to and from school and work. The time and effort you put into creating Lore is so abundantly clear. I think most, if not all, of your supporters understand that you can only stretch yourself in so many directions. The best of luck on your new projects! I can't wait to listen.

2018-09-05 16:37:04 +0000 UTCI appreciate that, Will, trust me. But that's why I made this announcement post public, so that non-supporters could read about it before supporting. and as I wrote in the post, this is just temporary, and we should be resuming regular Extras sometime in December.

2018-09-02 16:40:28 +0000 UTCAaron...sad news indeed. I just started supporting on Patreon and was really enjoying the extras. Hope you can pick the extras up again - they really give me a nice smile to start the off-weeks. Maybe you need a doppleganger?

2018-09-02 14:05:10 +0000 UTCI'm dropping my Patreon of Lore, but not because I don't love and support Aaron! I will continue to buy Lore boxes, books and subscribe to his podcasts. I just want to share the love with up and coming projects that need the help. <3

2018-08-21 01:21:39 +0000 UTCIt's all good, Aaron. You work super-hard as it is, and a person can only juggle so many projects before one has to be put down for a moment. You're only human, after all! (....We're pretty sure, anyway.) Thoroughly enjoying all the wonderful content you put out for the main Lore show, Cabinet of Curiosities, the Lore books, and the Amazon Prime series. I'm sure the new project will be a blast as well. Remember to breathe, man! Take care of yourself! 😉
