So quick with the fake name Song, almost like you’ve done this before… /a lot/. And then there’s ever honest, ace/demi Mansa, I am very certain that at this point Song’s intentions are going straight over his head.
Any questions about them at this point? What they’ve been up to in their young lives? (These questions actually are really important to me! I’ll try to work answers into the rest of the story!)

I think that most infernals would be able to conjure like he can but since it’s illegal most are too frightened to try. Mansa’s parents are still alive, he doesn’t have a great relationship with them though. They didn’t really put in the time to understand him (being that he is not neuro typical) and focused much more on his brothers because they were “easier”. They are also much less understanding oof human/infernal relationships, but his grandmas (his dad’s mums) would love him regardless!

Mansa left his parents when he joined the army at 18, Song left when he was around 16 because Elon told him that his parents wouldn’t accept him if they knew he was dating a human (not true btw!) And in their free time Mansa fences and sews, and Song likes to play music and collect and scrapbook ferns 💕

Mansa looks so astonished bless him 😊 I seem to remember you saying that Mansa seeks Song out the next day or so to apologise although unless Mansa is feeling particularly regretful, it’s not something we’d do for absolutely anyone especially if we’re normally somewhat on the shy side so I’m guessing that Song’s confident approach made some kind of first impression?

In my mind Algie has never had a romantic crush on Mansa, he just has a very unhealthy dependency on their friendship. At this point he treats Mansa pretty badly under the guise of looking out for him/correcting “bad” behavior, but I think it’s because he knows if his secret ever came out Mansa would stay beside him regardless. So in his mind he’s protecting him. I also intended for this to be why he goes to Etty after The Courtesan. At that point Mansa has been with Song for a year and obviously they’re getting closer. Thomas is terrified he will lose the one person who he could rely on and the stress is making it difficult to control his power, so he trusts Etty to help him but also with his secret (which he has never shared with Mansa). The difference there is that Etty is a lot more of a tough love character, their friendship will do much more to smooth Algie’s edges than his friendship with Mansa.
