I’m sure that’s because of experiential influence. He’s not some over-the-top villain trying to take over the world, he’s the kind of person any one of us have or will encounter. Even when this story’s universe has roots in fantasy and magic, it’s still very grounded in reality by its amazing *real* characters, and I love that. Also, very much fuck Elon and people like him.

I got snared in that a few times due to being in a very bad place and it's so awful. The person doing it is a fucking horrible narcissistic manipulative creep. The idea that keeping someone you "love" in a state of mental illness or trauma just so you have control of them is nauseating. This bit of poison in Song's ear shows exactly why he acted as he did/does. In this you show how influences on both sides cause so much hurt to the pair of them. Kudos to you Whiteley for showing this seemingly cut and dried situation and how so many outside influences can be damaging.

But, seriously, this is turning all my reactions from the previous Proposal on its head. Now, I just want Song to go away and discover himself and really do what he wants to, not be used and abused and neglected. I would've hoped he'd explain things to Mansa, but I kinda get where he's coming from, it's hard to feel like you'll be missed, if your partner is barely spending any time with you, I think. I hope he comes back better able to communicate AND stand up for himself, so Elon never gets the chance to get to him like this, but I also kinda hope Mansa treasures him more when he comes back and they actually talk about things. In a nutshell, I'm soooo ready for more of Song's journey!!
