I have to admit this specifically is based solely on my own experience with a very toxic relationship. It was a huge added layer of stress knowing they were going to start screaming if I even mentioned someone I was interested in romantically. And we weren’t together. I know that might be sort of hard to understand if you’ve never been in this situation but Song’s motives are purely in his own preservation here!

If that's the case, Song isn't to blame for leaving Mansa, which makes their relationship a lot less complicated than it was in the previous iteration.

It’s a little comfort to know though that Song was happy with the proposal and really did intend at least to be right back as promised. I hope that goes some way towards reconciliation. 😭💔

Context question - What's the aftereffect to 'taking' (drinking?) raw magic like Elon did? Is he likely to still high/drunk/loopy/wired? (Assuming Ghost doesn't stop him before he gets there.)

Probably a certain infernal that has been keeping an eye on him 👀. That would also explain why he didn’t write a note. It always sounded so odd to me. I feel like Song would definitely write a note if he knew he was going to be gone for a long time. He would never hurt Mansa like that.
