They might, but I think (with the horns tail and teal skin that her dad doesn’t have) it would just be an easier assumption that Mauve was unfaithful. She definitely didn’t know before Annie was born and Alister was just hoping beyond hope that she wouldn’t look like him!

Maybe they don't know about genes in this society? It makes me think of a friend of mine: entire family is very dark toned chilean family. But there was one great great grandfather from Switzerland, and my friend got ALL those genes. Blonde hair, blue eyes, pale skin. They even did a dna test when they were older just to see, and he's a full sibling, but just a throwback genetically.

I mean... she's definitely being horrible and cruel, but I can also see how she's backed into a societal corner and it's every man (person) for themselves right now. It's too bad they aren't uniting for the sake of their daughter, but it's clear they each have a lot of shame and are dealing with it in different ways.
