I don’t believe it’s Mansa’s fault but the two of them have been on autopilot with Mansa working to get the bill passed and then Song running hexes. Song just became a support system and he’s been hanging his identity on what he can do for his partner.
Maybe it’s time to drag that fact to light!

I can see how this will be really good for him in the long run, and let him gain a confidence in himself he's never had before. But lord it's going to be hard. They love each other so much but you're doing a fantastic job of showing how nonetheless they'd gotten into a routine that reinforced bad habits, for both of them, to the detriment of both and the relationship as a whole. You're a terrific artist but this is also just wonderful writing, to say nothing of the worldbuilding. I pray someday you make their whole story available in print; I'llr ead it over and over and over.

2022-11-28 14:11:41 +0000 UTCSong sadly fell back on his old habits. Especially since he contacted Elon again. It brought back all those ugly thoughts that he isn’t good enough. But he fell back on those habit in such a way that he didn’t notice it. He is so used to having someone outright tell him that he’s only worth something if he’s useful and perfect that he didn’t notice a mindset like that can also come from yourself. But I don’t necessarily think Songs answer it bad or wrong. We all fill out so many different roles in our life. And all of them ultimately make us who we are. I don’t think there is a singular correct answer to that question. We as living beings are far to complex to limit us on 1 answer. If someone asks me that question I will just answer „I am me.“ or „Stay around and find out 😏.“ 😂 Also little funny thing. I recently started playing Pokémon Violet and came across the new Ghost Gym leader. She really really reminds me off Mansa’s grandmother 😂

But if Ghost choses to insert herself/her cause/Raine/whatever in the rubble of Song's self she's creating it will be just as bad as with Elon or anyone else he's been dependent on. And there will still always be ghosts of the past lingering as I know from my own expirience.

2022-11-28 13:46:54 +0000 UTCIt IS tough love but poor Song has been lurching from one relationship to another and only the one he started with Mansa is anywhere near positive though it has its own problems. He was SO young starting out too, I doubt he’s ever given much thought to his identity. Hard lesson to learn I’m sure and I wanna give him a big hug, kiss his forehead and tell him it’ll all be okay (I’m a hopeless soft touch lol) but seems like Ghost might, in her way, give him the time freedom and encouragement to explore what it means to be the infernal, Song and how he sees himself in relation to others going forward. Will he get on with Raine in time?

I might be wrong, but this conversation of “who are YOU” is working like a very quick start to get him to face identity issues…and its hitting me kinda hard 😭 in a pretty personal way, even if i otherwise dont personally relate to Song. Identity issues are messed up and poor Song has been through so much trauma. Tough Love General Mom has my support for now……
