His driver is secure enough to question him *and* openly mouth off, so 1) Thos doesn’t browbeat them and 2) it seems out of character enough to be remarked on. Also, Etty would probably have Thomas’s head on a platter if he openly mistreated infernals.

I am guessing that Infernals are cheaper to hire then human servants? Sorry got all the questions, my autistic historian brain has just decided it wants to know everything about servants in this era!
