Legends 45: The Only Thing to Fear (ad-free)

The legends that fill our world often give us good reasons to be afraid. But there’s one thing most of us fear above all else, and when it succeeds in defeating us, the results can be terrifying.

Narrated and produced by Aaron Mahnke, with writing by Alex Robinson and research by Cassandra de Alba.

I apologize, I was mistaken. I had watched/listened to a playlist I made yesterday comprised of episodes of Lore and The Why Files, my two favorite content creators. Apparently my wires got crossed this morning while re-listening to this episode so for that, I sincerely apologize Aaron. But for what it’s worth while I have your attention I want to say thank you for the content as it got me through a long and difficult three year prison sentence. I was locked up at Chillicothe correctional institution in Chillicothe Ohio so I’m from Houston Texas. I was addicted to heroin at the time. At my lowest I was going through some very severe withdrawals and an unfamiliar place with snow and ice everywhere which I am not accustomed to or at least wasn’t then. The only thing that would get me through some days with this podcast. I don’t know if you’ll actually read all of this, I hope so. Chillicothe was built originally around the time of the Civil War, it was originally an army base. Eventually was turned into a prison. A lot of people died there over the years and an immense amount of collective suffering, an amount that no one of us of us could possibly imagine. I want to got in trouble there for a fight, which was something that I basically had to do. And I was put in solitary confinement for 5 months, though that’s not what they call it anymore, but it’s the same thing. I was allowed to have my JP five player which allowed me to listen to the podcast. And it was all I had. Chillicothe was haunted, even alone in my cell, sometimes there are things that would make me feel like I was going crazy, but then I talk to other people when I finally got out and apparently the same thing happened to them or they heard or saw the same stuff. It was extremely surreal. Thank God, I’m out Thank you for your content, Aaron
