Hey everyone! I'd like to make a little announcement to all of you and especially those pledging $10 or more. Not long ago Patreon clarified that raffles were against their ToS. I actually thought that was just another rumor going around, but apparently, according to their ToS, it now counts as gambling and can not be offered as a reward. Here is where my problem starts: I have been offering this sketch raffle as a reward for $10+ patrons for a while now, longer than this policy has been in place. Hence there are a lot of people on those tiers (almost 30 at this point). Unfortunately I will have to find another reward to offer to you than that monthly raffle. So the plan right now is the following: At the end of the month I will draw one more winner for the sketch raffle, because you lovelies have been supporting me all month. In my opinion everyone who has been pledging $10 or more deserves at least one more chance to win a sketch. Starting with july I will have to offer some other reward for the $10 tier. That reward should also carry over to the $25 tier. So here is where the trouble begins: I don't quite know what I can offer instead of the monthly raffle. The raffle has been a way for people to get art from me that they could afford without swamping me with an unconquerable amount of work. I would like to offer something that gives you the feeling that you are still getting something worth the money you pledge. At the moment I can only think of a few ways to do this: A) A monthly, private stream for those pledging $10 or more where I would listen to the chat on what to draw. Everyone could throw in ideas and I could do my best to make something happen that has been inspired by input from the chat. This could either end up being a coloured sketch for one of you guys, or end up a fully coloured illustration, depending on what ideas arise. The stream would probably take place on a sunday each month so it would be at a reasonable time for as many of you as possible. B) Voting on what sketch to turn into a fully coloured illustration next. I could provide several sketches you could vote on and I would work on and finish the winner. There are always ideas in my head that have to take the back seat to another idea and I can never work on everything I want to work on. This way you could influence what I end up working on in the end. C) Monthly prints. This option would be a little tricky to organize and might, if done badly, leave me with a loss. I'm sure something of that sort could be figured out for higher tiers, but printing something for everyone and shipping it out every month would probably end in a net loss for me. D) I keep doing the raffles, but organize them on Furaffinity. The raffle reward is removed from the pledge information on Patreon and the raffle on FA will legally have nothing to do with Patreon, but will happen on another website and I'll just happen to draw a winner out of those pledging $10 to me here, oh what a coincidence. What ideas do you have? Do you think something can be figured out to save the $10 tier? I would be very grateful for all your input, since a lot of people are currently in that tier and I don't want to leave any of you empty-handed. Sincerely (with many hugs) Vader

Well, I am not a 10 bucks pledger, but I dunno...the private stream sounds kinda ehhhhish. the other suggestions are better, and moving the raffle to FA might be a way. And the right to vote is a good idea too.

If you don't want to change the tiers too much, you could change it from a sketch raffle to something like a character pool. So like, if you have a picture that needs 3-4 background characters that aren't otherwise specified, you'd go digging through characters in the pool to find ones that might fit. You could also do a round-robin sketch deal, where each paid month earns a patron a token or two depending on their tier, and then you draw a few sketches each month going roughly in order of whoever has the most tokens saved up, and getting a sketch resets their token count.

2015-06-23 14:25:51 +0000 UTCYou could do psuedo-random selection? Take everyone in the tiers that could win the raffle and randomly pick a person from the list, but never pick the same person twice until everyone has been picked once. Since that guarantees that everyone will, sooner or later, get a reward, it's not technically gambling anymore. Beyond that, I like D, though it feels a bit dishonest. A or B would be my next choice, no real preference.

2015-06-23 13:03:32 +0000 UTCthats a tough one.. I love the idea of having a chance at a sketch.. but how to offer it.. you might just to move it to FA, but i'd be worried about if its still based on what is going on on your Patreon. They might get upset about it. other than that i really have no idea what you can do.. sorry..
