I am not at all familiar with that battle or unit. That late in the war, the officer quality was also a bit of an issue. Late-war manuals got also way more detailed etc. if I am not mistaken, particularly since a lot of information could not be assumed anymore.

that was an oversight, I reused a different organization where the deputy squad leader had a Gewehr 41, I changed the text, but I didn't change the graphic for the rifle.

Just for the sake of clarification: Deputy Squad Leader was usually armed with KAR98K, but the picture shows Gewehr 41 rifle in order to distinguish him from riflemen..? Or to show what he should have in theory (but lacked in practice)?

This was one of the best guides to base of fire or fire and maneuver battle tactics I've seen. Which gives me the perfect opportunity to ask a question that has puzzled me for years: How did the commanders of the 1st Battalion, 9th Fallschirmjäger Regiment, 3rd Fallschirmjäger Division not get this memo when they were attacking the American I&R platoon at Lanzerath Ridge in December 1944? I suspect these were the tactics the men of the Fusilier Regiment 27 of the 12th Volksgrenadier Division used when they finally overran the American position at the end of the day. Had these Fallschirmjäger officers really been taught nothing about tactics that had been in use since the final years of the Great War?
