🎣 Booty Hunter – Devlog #4 – Weekly Update (Fishing Minigame Completed!)

Hey everyone! Welcome to the fourth weekly devlog for Booty Hunter.
This week, I’m excited to share that the Fishing Minigame is now fully functional!
Let me walk you through everything I worked on:

🎣 How Fishing Works

Before starting a fishing session, you will need to choose three things:

• A Fishing Rod

• A Bait

• A Companion

Each choice will affect your fishing experience in a different way.

🎯 Fishing Mechanics

• After casting the line, you’ll wait a set amount of time for a fish to bite.

• Once a fish bites, you’ll have to react within a short time window to successfully catch it.

• Rarer fish take longer to bite compared to common ones.

🛠️ Rod & Bait Effects

• The rod and bait you choose will reduce the waiting time for a fish to bite.

• They also increase your reaction window, making it a bit easier to catch the fish.

• Better rods and better bait = faster bites and easier catches.

🐟 Bait Special Effect

• Bait also boosts your chances of attracting higher-rarity fish.

• The better the bait, the better your chances of catching rare or even super rare fish.

👩‍🦰 Companion System

• Your companion fishes independently while you are fishing.

• She has her own bite timer, and her waiting time does not depend on the rarity of the fish like yours does.

• Instead, her fishing efficiency depends on:

  • Her Fishing Traits

  • Her Fishing Level (which improves each time she participates)

On top of that:

• A companion’s higher Fishing Level will slightly reduce your own waiting time, helping you fish faster too!

🔥 What’s Next?

Now that the fishing minigame is complete, my next focus will be on:

• Developing the crafting mechanics

• Building the cooking system, where you’ll be able to use the fish you catch as ingredients.

Both systems will be essential for the upcoming Version 0.10.
