Translators Update

Today's update isn't about me but focuses on two of our main translators, Lyly and Nomad, who work on Commoner Villainess/Two-as-One Princesses and Destiny Unchain Online/Pupil of the Wiseman/Automata Maid, respectively.

First, regarding Lyly: Due to an increasingly busy work life, they've opted to decrease their monthly quota from 15 chapters to 10. This is why you've noticed a reduction in Commoner Villainess updates from 10 chapters per month to just 5. On that note, the main story of Commoner Villainess is already fully translated, and we're on the final stretch with the side stories. Once those are completed, Commoner Villainess will conclude.

Normally, at this point, we'd allocate resources to pick up a new novel. However, since 5 chapters per month is a bit too slow and might not gain much traction, we've decided to use the remaining funds to speed up the translation of Two-as-One Princesses instead. So once Commoner Villainess is wrapped up, we're planning to increase the monthly quota of Two-as-One Princesses from 5 chapters to 10 chapters per month.

Also, please expect a short delay in the chapter uploads from Lyly this month. Last I heard from them, they said:

"I couldn't make much progress in the past few weeks because of sudden testicular pain. We got it checked out with a doctor, but all we found out is that it could be from an infection or something else—nothing certain yet. It might be due to high blood sugar. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to be testicular torsion or anything worse, at least so far. The pain has subsided enough for me to be able to sit down for long periods, so I will be likely later than even my normal late, but I'll make sure to finish before the start of next month. Again, sorry for the late update."

Next, let's talk about Nomad.

I understand that many of you are disappointed by the slow updates from Nomad over the past few months. The situation has been quite difficult, and I've found it hard to bring up frequently, as it’s a very sensitive matter. I'll try to explain the circumstances as carefully as possible while staying true to the core issue.

Earlier this year, one of Nomad’s close relatives was diagnosed with a medical condition that required them to move to a larger city for better treatment. Although Nomad didn’t relocate with them, they assisted with the move, which took place around June.

Since then, Nomad’s relative had been urging them to visit regularly, leading to frequent travel between locations while Nomad tried to balance their personal responsibilities with work. I fully understand that work is work, and ideally, personal complications shouldn’t impact professional commitments too much. However, Nomad is one of our best translators, and I deeply value their contributions. One life was at stake, and I didn’t want to deprive them of the opportunity to spend precious time with their family during such a critical period.

In October, the doctors expressed that there wasn’t much more that could realistically be done medically. There was a possibility that Nomad’s relative would move back to live with them, as life in a smaller city would be less stressful. However, those plans were never fully decided.

Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, Nomad informed us that their relative had passed away. They are still processing this loss and aren’t entirely sure how to cope. Even so, Nomad has shared that they will try to continue their work, perhaps as a way to distract themselves and focus on moving forward.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time.

Lastly, with Automata Maid nearing the end of its translation this month, Nomad has expressed a desire to lighten their workload for a bit—at least until they can comfortably meet deadlines again before starting a new project.

So in conclusion:

I might discuss with Mab to see if they can pick up a new novel in lieu of Lyly and Nomad. I might also consider picking up a Chinese novel myself, depending on my schedule, but nothing is set in stone yet. While I'm fairly confident that Mab might be able to take on extra work, I'm unsure about my own availability as I'm still struggling to keep up with my current workload. I'll keep you all updated once I have more to share.
