My eyesight took another blow last week, and I'm close to getting a diagnosis which is not encouraging, so I went in a different direction - I ordered a bunch of pastels, oil pastels, and coloured pencils, and went BIG.
This is my first I-have-no-idea-what-the-****-I'm-doing attempt at pastel/oil pastel/coloured pencil (since 1998), just putting down some pigments and seeing what would happen (what happened is apparently a Tiefling of some sort). Yes, I did mix them all and that was a terrible idea. I still like what you can do with the medium, and think this might lead so some interesting and HUGE portraits down the line. I find it much easier to go loose with pastels (et al.), much more than I ever did with watercolour. I've never mastered the art of leaving watercolour areas gloriously unfinished; in pastel, it comes across as much more spontaneous to start with so that's more natural.
Looking to do some Critical Role as well as maybe a few Valar. =)
I apologise if I come across in a slightly "screw it all" way right now. I feel this is the most healthy attitude I can take, definitely better than wallowing in self-pity. Maybe I'll strike a balance down the line. ;) Love you all. <3
