It was clear he was up next, right?

After leaving guinea pig status to Yavanna (watercolour pencils) and Caduceus (quasi-Prismacolor), Maedhros is, of course, up next. Interestingly, coloured pencil was the first medium I ever did a coloured Maedhros in! It was right after I'd read the Shaping of Middle-earth for the first time (though I should have been studying for my A-levels) and found out he was red-haired, and priorities are priorities.

(Damn, I'd forgotten that didn't age well.)

I'm finding out SO MUCH about coloured pencils. Mostly, I find out what sort of STUFF I have here that are great with coloured pencils and which I've never used. I've discovered I own a blender and I'm not afraid to use it. I also now have about 170 coloured pencils now and yes I'm very much afraid to use them but will anyway.

I've discovered this brand that is similar to Prismacolors (Castle Art, wax-based), and they work so well with the blender I have. I've also discovered I own a bottle of blending medium (alcohol-based) that works wonderfully with these. I've been trying around creating smoooooth gradients and damn, I remember again why I spent years working with coloured pencils. And I never even realised that you could blend them!

Fuuuuuuuuun! There is nothing like sorting pigmented things. A dragon must feel like that when taking stock if its hoard.

It was clear he was up next, right?

Ohh, do you think you'll ever feel like doing tutorials on what you've learned regarding coloured pencils? 👀 You're tutorials on dA have always been really inspiring to me, and I have a pretty large (and largely unused 😅) collection of coloured pencils lying around as well! Either way really excited to see what you will do with them in the future. ❤
