Added 2023-07-16 07:38:58 +0000 UTCA piece I've been wanting to do for ages: Caleb in his library, reading, with Frumpkin for company. Caleb is the one of Liam's characters from Critical Role that I relate least to (just too much emotional baggage!), but his love of reading and cats are the best. 🧡
I actually used AI for some of the background; I tried constructing the BG but the nooks and crannies defeated me. So I had Freepik generate me a room with books.
This is the pic generated with AI. I'm normally a strict opponent of AI in images, but this seems to me like a legitimate way to use it, as the backbone for structures and perspective. It’s so generic that I can’t image any copyright was violated, and I used it as guidelines for much of the time (and later for lighting). Some of the structures and the books don’t make sense, but that’s something I can fix, I hope.

Cats + reading + magic = always a winning combo. 🥰 I’m also very leery of AI, but a lot of artists I know use it just like you do - to get a base image of something they’re having trouble visualizing, and that there’s unlikely to be a reference image already our there for exactly what they need. (Well, out there without a prohibitive amount of searching, anyway.)
