So here's Winifred being a standard villain instead of the complex, misguided, lonely figure we see today. This was supposed to be her way of exacting some sort of punishment on Hammer for being untrustworthy. Some sort of spooky, inverted-candle ceremony results in a tail being added to Hammer's body. The tip of the tail is actually a sentient being meant to keep Hammer in line. It was going to just slap him in the face a lot. This drawing, aside from being old enough to go to junior high, was probably sketched out fairly quickly, but I liked to idea enough to color it. It just wouldn't fit Winifred's MO these days. In the current storyline, her reaction to bad news and insubordination is to just have a Falling Down-style mental break.
Also, I wonder if the Jhonen Vasquez influence was ever any more obvious than it is here.
