Fireball: It’s Not Just a Terrible Whiskey Anymore

Tonight I’m going to a local board game café (which is apparently a thing) to see some guys who are crowdfunding a remake of the 1986 board game, Fireball Island. It was played on a three-dimensional board in which you tried to be the first off the island with a bigass ruby. But your friends can draw cards to rain flaming hell (red marbles) down upon you in the island’s narrow paths. It was awesome, and I’m psyched. Also, flavored whiskey sucks. If you don’t like the taste of whiskey, then don’t drink whiskey. Simple as that.

I remember when a friend took this over to our house when there weren't any good cartoons on. You can't appreciate how HUGE the board is until it's laid out in front of you. This stuff kicks World of Warcraft's ass.

I loved Fireball Island! Wish my family hadn't gotten rid of it at some point. Nobody knows where it went and copies are super expensive now. If there's a remake coming I'm all for backing it.

Cool. I had a blast going to a board game cafe a couple times in Seoul (makes sense there due to apt. space, etc - not so much in the US) - but technically it is nice to be able to try before you buy - especially in a comfortable atmosphere. Taught my Korean army buddies how to play Carcasonne (or Catan, I can't remember now).
