Write What You Know

That’s how the old expression goes. Some of my favorite exchanges in The Underburbs are meant for an audience of one. Taking experiences from my own life (in this case, the actual, bizarre evaluation scale from my day job) and applying it to my teenage witch and vampire comics is a way to entertain myself as I write and draw the scene. People don’t have to get the direct reference. It’s there as flavor, and hopefully makes the characters’ dialogue feel more natural. As for my area manager, I think the word she wanted was “adequate.” Proficient sounds way better than good.

Reminds me of this Phil Hartman classic: <a href="https://youtu.be/WOxpuKXhlss" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/WOxpuKXhlss</a>

When I post my best and longest worked at job in 2008 we down sized, my supervisor told me my work was detailed efficient and my work was extensive and accurate. When I said "Ah well that's good" him and three guys I never met shook there head and said "well yes but that's not what we need we need more then someone who does an efficient extensive job" annnnnnd the rest just sucked.
