I've been working on this 80s pop/salsa dancer Angela on and off for about a week, as my schedule allows. I tried to crank out the image on the left, and was unhappy with the results. I'm not sure when I'm at my most critical, but working on commissions is pretty high up there. I sketched the second image in ballpoint pen at work the next day, and it came out much better. It led to the third image, which I'm much happier with. I don't know if there was ever a point in my career (which I actively had to keep myself from putting in quotations) where I would've tried to save the left image with more inking and shading. It was beyond saving in general construction, let alone design. But you know what they say: you can't make an omelette.
Seriously, I can't make an omelette. Cooking eggs remains a mystery to me.
