I'm not sure how she got this way. Maybe some sort of magical fallout. Perhaps some spirit inverse to the Guardian somehow clung to Winifred's desire to rule the world. Like Angela's new form, Winifred the Destroyer can speak but prefers treetop-shaking screeches to get her point across.
