Issue 1) Should there be a thaumx twitter for random (hopefully amusing) bullshit and important news items?
Issue 2) Do Appletree's users of twatter send tweets or twats (or something else)?

Yes, but it would be more apt to say that the country as a whole has taken a swing toward being more highly sexualized. Appletree itself IS a bit extreme, thanks largely to [redacted], but the country as a whole is filled with innuendo as well. Slightly different parallel universe + 14 years for a new wave of marketing and social norms to happen. :)
