it is the batteries that explode not the phone, so if they use the same type of batteries, and they draw the same rate of power, then they will heat up the same. a larger battery will have more surface area and mass to deal with the heat (but thicker means less surface area to mass, so they should not got that route), so it should be more likely to bring a battery to ignition point on a smaller phone battery. decreasing the space inside the phone doesn't help either.

Eventually there will be some different routes (aka career progressions) for working at the institute. There will also be other jobs, such as working at Progenerate Technologies GMbH or Hole Foods, as well as self-employment options such as selling milk or womb rental, etc.
