Louisville City FC vs. Indy Eleven - REACTION!! | USL

There is also an interesting story surrounding this game. This was the first USL game to be nationally broadcast on TV that you didn’t need cable for. Let me explain… There’s a lot of network TV stations in the US like TNT and ESPN and MTV and so on… There are also six TV stations that are available to everyone whether you buy cable or not over an antenna. Those are CBS, NBC, ABC, fox, PBS, and the CW. For the first time ever a USL game, this USL game, was broadcast over CBS… So one of those six TV stations that are free for everyone. As part of the USL versus MLS war that is going on right now MLS scheduled LAFC versus LA Galaxy at the exact same time as this match to prove that nobody cared about the USL. The TV ratings came out yesterday and 151,000 more people watched the Louisville game than LAFC versus LA Galaxy which was on Fox. It’s part of the nationwide protest against MLS over the introduction of leagues cup and leagues cup leading to MLS teams refusing to participate in the U.S. Open cup, our 110-year-old FA cup, because more money can be made playing a liga MX team in leagues cup. about 70% of MLS fans are straight up going to be boycotting leagues cup this upcoming season. St. Louis city for example all of their fans are joining together and refusing to make any social media posts or buy any tickets for their leagues cup games this summer. That great atmosphere you see for St. Louis will not be in the leagues cup as that stadium will be completely empty as part of a protest for St. Louis city choosing to play in the leagues cup and refusing to play in the US open cup. many other teams fans are doing the same thing. that protest is also spilling over into the USL. Many MLS fans have simply walked away from their teams and have found USL teams that are close enough where they can attend or simply just started streaming USL games and refusing to watch MLS games over the matter. that is why you are seeing an optic and USL attendance over the first few weeks and atmospheres like the one you saw in this very game. The protest is only getting bigger. I complain about MLS a lot, and I will also be boycotting leagues cup, not watching any content related to it or making any social media posts about it, but I also still love my team and going to support my MLS team but vigorously hate on the league and continue to support my local USL team. It’s really crossroads for soccer in the United States though. as for some of these players… Most MLS clubs will not do business with USL. Players have to make a choice. If you sign with the USL team, there is only about a 5% chance, no matter how good you are, that you will make an MLS roster because most MLS club simply refused to make purchases or sales to USL teams. it’s part of the ongoing battle that is just getting uglier and uglier. This full house, 16,300 people at the largest soccer specific stadium in the USL, couple with the incredible TV ratings are really turning point in the MLS versus USL battle. The USL isn’t going away quietly like the MLS is trying to make it do.

Sports Loving American

Louisville is probably the model club in USL. Great new stadium, always top of the table and making playoff runs. I hate it being a Pittsburgh fan 😂
