SGMB - very 60s music or Beatles -esque Interlude - that old timey music Who- 90s 00s inspo with an MJ flair Be Mine - Latin flavour no doubt Slow Dance - 80s especially with the sax in there. Closer than this - Army inspo He has great concepts for albums

2024-07-19 20:46:13 +0000 UTCOh, and here are a couple of other notes about the songs and lyrics: - As others have mentioned, June 12, 2013 was the date of their first album release and showcase. The next day, June 13th, was their first music show performance and is considered their official debut (which we celebrate each year as FESTA--including Jin's showcase this year). So both dates are meaningful to the members and come up frequently. (Jimin's wrist tattoo is a 13, presumably for their debut date June 13, 2013 and his birthday, October 13th.) - The last* song on FACE is Set Me Free Pt. 2, which marks the end of that album's narrative. The music video ends with Jimin rising up and clothed in white, which I see as the transition to Rebirth, the first track on MUSE. (* okay, technically not the last, but still) - The song Smeraldo Garden Marching Band is a response and reference to an earlier BTS song. From the SGMB press release: "Referencing the fictional flower 'Smeraldo,' which symbolizes 'the truth untold,' the lyrics tenderly express the longing to confess and find love on behalf of those unable to articulate their feelings. This theme connects to the legend of 'Smeraldo' referenced in 'The Truth Untold (Feat. Steve Aoki)' from BTS' LOVE YOURSELF Tear album." So, to me at least, part of Jimin's inspiration could be the desire to make music that helps others express the feelings that they hold inside. - I'm going to spend a lot of time listening to Filter and Be Mine back to back, lol. Which is a fascinating combination both musically and lyrically, now that I think on it. - Closer Than This feels like the warmest hug from the purest soul! The non-scrapbook part of the video (when he's in Brooklyn) is actually older footage from 2018, I believe. The scrapbook motif reminds me of Madonna's music video for This Used to Be My Playground (yes, I'm old, lol), so that makes it even more emotional to me. - I'm really looking forward to the upcoming episode of Mini & Moni Music to hear Jimin talk about MUSE and the different songs.

For each new release, the announcement and webpage give insight into the focus of the song or project. That always frames my interpretation of the song/album, along with whatever the member(s) say in lives and/or interviews of course. Here's what they told us for MUSE. - Announcement: Following his first solo album, “FACE,” where he sought to explore his true identity, “MUSE” documents his journey in search of the source of his inspiration. Showcasing Jimin’s expanded musical spectrum, “MUSE” includes seven tracks, including the fan song “Closer Than This,” released in December 2023. - Webpage: While FACE delved into confronting one’s inner self, through MUSE, Jimin candidly shares the stories he wished to convey while portraying his journey of finding inspiration from his surroundings. Jimin, who led the overall production of MUSE, tells the story of making various attempts at finding real, genuine love and losing his way at times over the album’s seven tracks: “Rebirth (Intro),” “Interlude : Showtime,” “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band (feat. Loco),” “'Slow Dance (feat. Sofia Carson),” “Be Mine,” “'Who,” and “Closer Than This.” The theme of love begins with the first track “Rebirth (Intro)” and gradually unfolds throughout the album, reaching its climax at the main track “Who.”
