I'm surprised you guys didn't catch Dimple being worried he seriously hurt or killed Mob after the laser beam. But this episode is a real roller coaster, I loved seeing you guys go back and forth on Dimple.

2025-02-09 10:56:04 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite lines in this show was Mob asking Dimple "Why won't you show yourself? Could it be... You're afraid of me?" In any other anime a line like that would be a taunt. A way to goad the enemy into appearing. But you can tell from the background music and Mob's tone that for him it's more of a heartbreaking realization. This is Mob realizing that Dimple kind of expects him to go for the kill. They both know Mob would never kill any of his human friends, no matter what they did to provoke him. Mob has even risked his life to save human enemies before. But Dimple isn't human. And Mob's exorcised plenty of evil spirits.

2025-01-17 15:42:27 +0000 UTCI think one of the lines from the previous episode kind of explains it Dimple: Come on now, Are you trying to kill me? Teru: Well, you're not a person, are you? Dimple: Correct. I am a God. As an evil spirit Dimple was invisible to most people and (until he met Mob) feared/hated by the few who could see him. He's essentially less than a person. I mean the fact that both Teru and Mob seriously considered killing him is telling. It's not like he wasn't pushing them to it, but at the same time the fact that it was on the table at all means a lot when neither would willingly kill a human enemy. For Dimple becoming a God meant escaping the fate of being less than a person. Everyone would see and admire him. It's not that different from Reigen's desire to "Be Somebody" when you think about it. But after experiencing a genuine friendship with Mob, that forced worship felt hollow in comparison. That's why he was so obsessed with getting Mob on board with his plan, and why he was willing to give it up altogether in the end.
