Lol my direct line is the Norwegian Vikings that settled in Scotland on one side, and the other, my Grandma is a descendent of another Germanic tribe, so we are practicing Norse Pagans and did a lot of research into our family line. Vinland is North America and it has been confirmed with real artifacts, bones, and documents of oral history that Vikings had come to NA and traded with the Natives and learned to grow certain crops from them before returning home long long long before Columbus existed. This anime has the most historically accurate accounts of events, culture, lore and history with some embellishments for story. It's super well done. I'm always amazed at how the Japanese do a much better job representing Pagan beliefs and cultures than even the countries they are from. They do their research. This story is basically the dream that Vinland (the America's held) for these people who lived in such harsh environments and climates. The Germanic tribes such as the Norse, Swedes, Danes, ect. Were constantly at war over fertile land and food, which is what led to the crusades of the Saxons (which was demonized to be far more horrific than what it was on the Norse side. They went there to find means of cultivating and survival, but being met with hostility they responded in kind. How the Saxons drove the Norse away was a massacre on Saturday, the Nordic bath day. The Saxons waited until everyone was naked and bathing, then slaughtered them)
