Vincenzo Episode 3

Comments

Thank you so much for your support 🥹💜 I'm half a year into recovery with 0 backsteps. I'm also switching to the monthly shot now that they trust I won't go looking for pills, so I won't have to dissolve the gross suboxone pills in my tongue anymore 🥳 just wish I got a medal like they show on TV lol

On the note of opioid addiction, speaking from experience, it happens slowly but sneaky honestly, so the idea is you can take them for up to 2 weeks before your body becomes addicted, but you will sneakily become dependent first. So say you get hurt, obviously you want to avoid pain so you're like "God I need these to take that pain away" that is the first sign of dependency. As long as you are mindful and strict that you will not depend on the meds and won't take them longer than 2 weeks, you should be alright, but it is hard to be that self aware. In my case, I was addicted to my sleeping pills (didn't know at the time) and so the withdrawals included depression and stronger insomnia than I had, so I took a hydro now and then from my previous surgery with the mind that if I didn't take them too often, I'm ok. Well, I eventually ran out and a person who's a friend of the family said they have something that's basically the same thing and will do the same thing. I took them annnnd that's all it took. Because what I didn't know I was taking yet was Fetinol (what they use to put people under) mixed with oxycodone. 2 very powerful opioids. So the rule of thumbs are 1. Don't let yourself get to a point that you rather take the pills than deal with low level pain. Take over the counter pain meds and build up muscle in the areas if you can. 2. Cut off after 2 weeks unless it's a chronic debilitating pain condition. 3. Don't take meds from other people unless it's something you are prescribed and you see the bottle. (Even then Google the numbers in the pill and what it looks like) 4. If you are having trouble weening off pain meds after an injury and experience withdrawals (moodiness, sweating, agitation, a craving or burning in your chest kind of sensation, tremors, insomnia, depression) immediately go to your doctor and ask about suboxone or a weening plan. It's so important for you to do this when you aren't mentally dependent (I mean like when you tell yourself you need the pills and don't want to stop taking them) I also racked up soooo much debt for my mom and got her into a lot of trouble because of it, and the withdrawals I experienced between buying pills were so bad I tried to kill myself a few times, and I wasn't even as bad off as people can get. I was still taking one pill orally a day (vs injecting and snorting which come later) and I was in moderate mental control where I did not want to be addicted and hated it. Once you start going to more extremes and trying to get higher and higher while enjoying the ride, that's it. You'll never fully be recovered after that. You'll always have to avoid images of pills or any line of temptation. Even drinking brings along those craving. I can't even take sleeping meds anymore and live very nocturnal with only 5-6 hrs of restless sleep at best.. it gets really hard because even though your body stops withdrawal after 3 days to 2 weeks (in extreme use) the mental withdrawals (like the depression and agitation/cravings) last to a year for low use and a lifetime for extreme use.

Flicking the lighter calms him down, I’m pretty sure that’s why he carries one. He doesn’t smoke. I’m sure he used to though because remember, he almost did in episode one, but then he tossed the cigarette.

I wanted to mention that the blinking caret at the end of the subtitles can be a bit distracting. If you press F7, it should resolve the issue.

Guys! About the scene with the airport official—from the first episode—(who was searching for a wanted man and checked Vincenzo’s id and said he matched the description) that wasn’t actually Vincenzo! I think y’all think Vincenzo was the wanted man but that he got away because it was under his Korean birth name. But that was just a police sketch of someone who looked similar with a different name. The scene was just supposed to be funny! I’m pretty sure he doesn’t have a rap sheet under his birth name lol

I'm watching right now and haven't finished, but I just wanted to explain! I'm not sure if y'all will pick up on it later since it's dicey. "Both of them" is referring to the researcher and lawyer Hong Yuchan (the dad) like y'all thought. They (Babel and Wusang Law) don't really know or care about Vincenzo going against them yet. The only one who does know is Hong Chayoung and she, regardless of the money, doesn't necessarily want to expose her dad. Regarding the CEO dude, remember there was a guy beating him up with a hockey stick and pucks? That's the person pulling the strings from behind him (but hiding his identity as of now). Although CEO guy is the CEO, he's more just the face and persona that the actual "owner" of Babel hides behind and CEO is very afraid of him. Why he is afraid and obeys him is definitely explained later. The lawyer lady knows that the CEO is too dumb/not ruthless enough to be making the decisions that he does so she has it figured out (though not who yet). I think after this episode, the show really finally settles into its dark humor and pacing. Up until episode four, I was getting whiplash from the tone shifts in the story, but after that the humor and the plot feel really seamless to me anyway. The characters of Vincenzo and Hong Chayoung are really developed too. The first three episodes are very much setting up the plot and introducing the ensemble cast. Those tenants and various side characters are very important to the plot even if they just seem like comedic relief right now. I really love this show. As someone who's been watching Kdramas since 2012, something about the ratio of humor and the angst/pessimism about corporate greed just made it a super fun watch with very serious themes underlying it. Also, genuinely some of my favorite characters— they're all so quirky and weird but they feel kind of real. Thanks for the reaction! I've been really enjoying this series with you guys!
