I ship Kazuma and Chris too lol I love her. But explaining weird and hard to explain Japanese/anime things #3: Onii-san/sama/chan or Aniki (anything that means big brother, or even sister for that matter) is the same as Korean usage where you use it on people close to you who are older, so it doesn't purely have familial connotations. And also, Japan has this thing about children wanting to grow up to marry their dads or siblings/sibling figures. It's supposed to be endearing but as Americans we just naturally respond with ick lol so I'm not surprised Iris wants to marry Kazuma. Also I'm not entirely sure she's THAT young. She might just be imouto-moe (designed to be little sister fetish but actually of mostly appropriate age) but also that being said, Japan views 13 as appropriate age so she could be perhaps.. 10-12 and her "grow up to marry Kazuma" is within reach but not currently attainable or Kazuma wouldn’t have treated her with so much respect sadly 😅 I wonder if she might be Megumin's age or slightly younger. (Also not that it matters in anime, but it does help us foreigners be less icked out.. kinda) but as always in my comments, what I'm saying is purely through 2nd hand knowledge and study, so I'm forced to talk in generals. It could be only anime things or niche things I'm saying, and I don't have first hand experience or knowledge enough to say "all Japanese people think or act this way, it's totally normal" no, if anything, my biggest recommendation is NEVER take what you learn from anime to Japan. Not even the language they use lol unless you want to be made fun of. Try saying something like "daijoubukai?" In modern Japan and you might earn some funny looks. So ya, just take what I say as a general idea and with a grain of salt. I do try to only speak on things I discuss with my family or friends from JP or have seen as a common thing, but since I don't live there, I can't see the cultural shifts or daily life stuff.

2024-05-22 19:22:37 +0000 UTCVanir mentioned in his initial introduction that he does actually have an ironclad rule about not killing humans as demons live off of the negative emotions of humans. Also, I don’t think Vanir would ever want to be a human as he seems more than happy as his current demonic self.

2024-05-22 17:46:36 +0000 UTCI wonder if Iris told that she liked silver haired thief just to shut up Kazuma, since at that moment he was on the verge of confessing that he was one of the thieves
