Season 2 of Squid game releases on my birthday😭🩷what a great gift

Gatha Naranath

They are waiting until they finish Vincenzo

Ahjusshi_Brown

The craziest part about Squid Games is that there was never supposed to be a 2nd season. It was supposed to end just like this 😭 We only ended up with a 2nd season bc it blew up internationally in ways that no one (especially the writer/director) could’ve expected

Ahjusshi_Brown

I recommend watching Korean movie to pair with Vincenzo. Like ‘the outlaws(2017)’ and ‘extreme job(2019)’

33:55 This is Steph being polite and rewording "Wesley. Please shut up and let's just watch. I NEED ANSWERS instead of questioning what I am seeing!!" This is the same energy I have with my friends when we watch something and they go ramble about theories when I know we'll get it in the next 10 minutes. My anxiety could not wait a second longer for them to stop lmao

Marcake

That’s right!!!!

just asking guys, are we getting a new poll for the next kdrama or are we waiting till vincenzo is done?

Joenne

I love how you guys do a deep reflection during and after every episode. Just a correction: The old man was the "host" and not a VIP. The VIP's were the old man's clients. The quote that said "good rain knows when to fall" is a quote by a Chinese poet, Du Fu. The guy also had 0 accent when saying that quote, so the actor was most likely Chinese. That meant the VIP who said the quote was most likely Chinese, not the old man (and physically looked younger than the old man).

10,000 won isn’t equal to $100 it’s closer to $10

Laura McNichol

I think it was confirmed by the writer of the show if I’m not mistaken?!?

Laura McNichol

I hope you guys keep with the theme of one dark kdrama series and one happy/funny kdrama!(even though I know it’s a fan voted thing on the polls), because for the next dark show I really want you to watch My Name even though it’s not the most popular on the polls

Laura McNichol

old man was so smart and sickening, he had his oxygen mask (which was keeping him alive) off the whole time because he knew somebody would be able to help that drunken man at midnight but if he died before that happened, it would mean player 001 won his very last game

nfam

You guys totally missed when it said season 2 coming in 2024... haha literally came on the screen when you both looked away and went off screen when you turner back... haha Anyway, I really enjoyed watching this with you guys. I binge watched this show when I first watched. I couldn't stop watching. With number 1 they actually didn't show him die, you just heard the gun shot. I loved this show but I felt the same way as you guys with a lot of the things that happened. I am so curious with what they are going to do with season 2. I also believe that the detective is still alive.

The little that we know about the new season just hypes it more, we don’t actually know anything about the plot but more about the scenery and actors, there was even a rumor that V from BTS was going to be in it (I think I just came from him wearing a guard costume in a concert so basically groundless rumor lol) but what has been confirmed looks amazing

carocatowr

i remember watching this episode and resenting gi-hun so much, I still don’t even plan to watch future seasons. I feel like ali or sae-byeok deserved the money more. I just feel so bad for the little brother, gi-hun’s mom, ali’s family….I can’t bring myself to care what else the game has going on 😭

Charmaine

idk if this was confirmed or a fan theory but gi-hun's red hair is meant to be a representation of his anger and fury; he's now overcoming his grief and sadness, and is angry towards those who are making these games happen in the first place

kiyo

Yea the bet shows that he could’ve helped him at anytime but he’s such an addict at heart that he’d rather watch him die to win the bet than to help him

gr2ves

Some insight - The old man was not a VIP. He implied he was the creator of the games. He was not the VIP watching, and I believe that VIP was speaking Chinese, not Korean. Also, 10,000 won is roughly $10. Just remember the trick, take off the last three zeros in any number and you will roughly convert won to usd.

The line from Parasite “they’re nice because they’re rich”. Sang-woo might’ve be a good guy in a world where he isn’t suffering from crippling debt. But in this reality, he doesn’t have the luxury to be a good guy. No one cares if you’re a “good person” in a death game. You still die a horrible death just like everyone else. Sang-woo understood that his only reason for living at this point was to win the money. So Gi-hun’s offer to leave the game with no money was never an option for Sang-woo. I can’t lie, if a death game was my last chance to turn around my life, I’m gonna play like sang woo

Brooklyn

Besto-friendo (I'm bad with Korean names, excuse me lol) wasn't playing the game for himself. He wanted to kill himself in the start of all this. To him, no matter the cost, he had to win the money to take care of his mom and do whatever it took, whereas main dude, it was pretty easy for him to be a good guy cuz not only would he have to live with himself afterwords, he didn't really have much to risk since he didn't have anything to begin with. Like it would've been nice to pay off his debts, get his mom treated, and give back to his family, but his mom didn't have anything to lose, his daughter is being taken care of, and well.. let's be honest, his mom is old enough that it wouldn't be absolutely out of the question for her to succumb to her illness and surgery is high risk for her anyway. So it was easy for him to risk it all and be a good man where friendo's mom owned a business and is still young and healthy enough for his mistakes to ruin her life, and he didn't plan to live after the games if he won, so he wouldn't have to live with the horrors he committed. In the end, all he cared about was getting the money to his mom, so even if it meant his friend winning and giving some to her, he was willing to do ANYTHING. Not that I forgive him for what he did to Ali and girly.. but I understand why he did it and why he chose the way he went out like he did. Also this ending blew my mind, finding out who the leader was lol Oh but your commentary at the end, the guy who talked about the rain was a Chinese man 😅 he wasn't speaking Korean. 001 was the head curator, not just a VIP, and the VIP's were his clients

Chels

Guys. The game guy at the train station is the main star on train to busan. He did a cameo. Heard he will be in season 2.

Also in the tug-of-war challenge, all of the contestants are chained to the rope with padlocks. I read in the Internet and saw the picture, that Il-nam chains doesn't seem to be attached to the rope. you can see when he lifts his hands in the air when they're lying on the ground afterward. This is presumably so he could break away if he wanted to. So yes you are right he was not actually in a verge of dieing.

Jane Ling

Did you remember in the night of the riots, Wien it endet? Player 001 cried loud 'I am afraid" and then the masked soldiers quickly ended after by front man told them. I assum front man, senses that Il-nam (001) was actually scared and he obeyd him, by stopping the riot

Jane Ling

I can't even recall the specific details, but I think I saw a YT video explaining a theory that there might be some '!Squid Game' type thing happening where homeless people or other random people are disappearing like by the hundreds..

In my opinion another possible reason as to why sangwoo decided to kill himself was because in this scenario where they both leave the games with just their lives 1. He would be left with no money to support his mother, which he bankrupted her himself. 2. That he would have to serve time in prison for embezzling money from his job.

Becky_ Gyall

yesss alice in borderland!

Kelvin Lau

See, and that’s the funny thing. We never actually SEE the old man get shot. 456 just turns the corner and we hear the blank. Great misdirection

Icybird999

The title of the episode is "One Lucky Day." It refers to a popular Korean story where a rickshaw porter who didn't find work for ten days had a lucky break. He was requested by a rich customer for a whole day of work. His wife asked him not to go that day, but since he wanted to buy his sickly wife her favorite dish, he went and worked. He made the money, came home, and found his wife dead. Just like Gi-Hun. Wes, I think you misremembered. The old man was not killed on-screen. You only heard the gunshot. But it's been hinted at throughout the show. He was player number 1. When they played red light green light, the detection software didn't even sense him. When the midnight free-for-all went off, his cry to stop was heeded by the staff. He was shown happy and carefree the whole time. Masterful twist in the end. Season 2 is coming by the way. Check out the trailer if you haven't.
