It was mentioned in episode 2 or 3 that Olmar is the heir to the farm :) not Thorgil. That's why Ketil is trying to teach him about farming.

But we also have the translation of the our (norwegian) 'tinghuset', which would be translated to 'courthouse'. So even if they went for the direct translation, ting would be thing, but it could also be court

2024-11-29 14:57:59 +0000 UTCThe "Thing" in the episode is meant to refer to the Norse word for meeting or gathering where free men would talk, settle disputes, etc. The subtitles didn't capitalize it so it's confusing but the word used to be specifically in that way. The word "thing" today is just the abstracted form the word took over time.
