I'm not ending my night like this lol Anyway to clarify on some stuff, time did not literally stop. It just wouldn't make sense with the grounded real world they've setup. The hourglass and Mayuri's watch stopping aren't in the VN source material. My guess is that it was just the anime taking some dramatic liberties to symbolise and buildup suspense to the moment of Mayuri's death. Her time was up, something like that. Its always the most wholesome and innocent ones they kill off first lol. Cos they know it will hurt and have an impact. Look forward to the next episode 😉

There is more to say on this in regards to this show, but it'll spoil a major part of the story. "On a fundamental level, humans are temporal creatures" - Kurisu I'm not the best person to explain this, but Kurisu is mentioning Heidegger's concept of Dasein where humans are unique beings in that our existence is based on our awareness (or fact) that life is finite, and we may try to live accordingly (i.e., trying to live a meaningful life while we still can). This is something to think about as you progress through the rest of the show.
