2025-02-03 11:06:40 +0000 UTCI have to admit I have bias against people who have a no matter what pacifist attitude I just can't get my mind around it even just myself if it's between me and them I will pick me if it's people I care about at risk even more so and yes size definitely effects things as well I have always been tall and bulky for my age growing up and just play fighting I could chuck about my mates at the time like it was nothing and some of them did things like boxing or other things like that and I am meaning all the way through to my late teens

2025-01-24 17:19:06 +0000 UTCIn particular (I didn't get very far in the manga) I always wondered how he thought a village (/society) without weapons would survive (I believe it's mentioned at some point he didn't want weapons). During history, societies were "filtered" the same way species are: those that behaved in a way that "worked", were successful and expanded, the other societies disappeared. Every society that survived till the modern time has been doing things (mostly) right (through traditions), and no society prospered without violence. For argument's sake, let's imagine they are completely alone in Vinland (impossible but whatever), sooner or later conflicts will arise from within. Order can only be reached with strength (in the long term), and without weapons the better equiped ones will be those with tools that can be used as weapons, and a lot of tools can be used that way. So in the end, strength will be needed to impose order, because sometimes you can't satisfy everyone. And war, is just a big and organized form of conflict. It's "possible" for an individual to be totally pacifist (even if it's depends on the context of the era that individual lives in), but for that he will rely on the strength of society to enforce his rights, by force. I think it's totally impossible for a society to not rely on violence to some limited extent at least.
