Perhaps it's because Subaru spent more time with him, and he got to emphasize with him more. Or Garf didn't like how "cocky" the second Subaru was, who was all like "yeah, I can do the trail, and we gotta do things this way and that way" ...maybe he felt something was off, and the "earlier" Subaru felt more natural to him.

There was a 10 year war between the Kingdom of Lugunica and demi-humans, which is important to remember for this story. Quoting the wiki without spoilers, here's the facts. "Initially a minor regional uprising on the Lugunican frontier, the war escalated into a bloody struggle that lasted for nearly the course of a decade. The two belligerents at the start of the war, the government of Lugunica, and the Demi-Human Alliance, would themselves be relegated to minor players as the war spiraled out of control, turning into a nationwide ethnic conflict with skirmishes breaking out all over the country. The war was brought to an end one year after that generationβs Sword Saint, Theresia van Astrea, joined the war." A part of that war, the battle of the Trias Domain, was shown as a flashback from Wilhelm, if you remember. When he was young, he was laying down in front of a domain in flames, with demi-humans around him, ready to end him. He was saved by Theresia who had that little montage where she slices them up, to which Wilhelm felt shame.

2024-11-14 08:10:08 +0000 UTCYeah, I was confused why they watched it when they seemed concerned with spoilers in the past, but hey, the openings are meant to be watched before every episode. Though personally, I watch every opening and ending of every anime episode I watch, so I don't mind! Openings act as a way for me to get hyped about the new episode, "get me in the mood" kind of thing. Though I guess they do spoil characters, locations, and events. That's why I really appreciate anime with openings and endings that aren't snippets taken from the show itself. Re: Zero does a little of both. But say a show like the Monogatari series, it's all original, even the OP songs are original, sung by the heroines. It's great. I wish more anime did that...
